First data of The Last of Us second season

The last chapter has put an end to a dizzying first season. Now the doubts loom over when we will see the next season, and above all, what it will include. We have more information, and although it is still unknown, everything seems to indicate that l to second season of The Last of Us it will not cover the entire second game.

And it is that those who have played The Last of Us Part II will have realized that it is a much longer title in size and history than the first, so it is logical that its history, taken to TV, splits into several parts.

This is precisely what its creators have commented. In a interview for G.Q co-creators Neil Druckmann (who also directed the game) and Craig Mazin discussed their plans for the show’s second season, following the premiere of the season one finale.

‘The Last of Us’ would have at least three seasons

When asked if Season 2 will cover the entire story of the second game, Mazin replied: “No. No way.” Druckmann added: “It’s more than one season.” This statement, apparently, is the tacit confirmation that the intention of the creators of the series for HBO is to make at least three seasons.

In the interview they were directly asked how many seasons the series would have, and especially how many the second game would cover, but the creators of The Last of Us they remain especially cryptic on this question: We won’t say how many [seasons]. But more than one is factually correct.”

And it is that, spoilers eye Part II includes a non-linear narrative that tells two parallel stories, so It’s going to be harder to condense into a few episodes.. This, surely, opens the door to more narrative interpretations as we have seen in the first season:

“I think we know what we are doing in this case. I don’t mean it sarcastically, I mean it with hope. There will be things that will be different and there will be things that will be identical. There are things that are going to be added and enriched. There are some things that are going to change. Our goal remains exactly the same as it was for the first season, which is to deliver a show that makes fans happy.

Mazin in his interview for GQ

Be that as it may, it seems that we will have, to everyone’s joy, The Last of Us for a while. At least as far as the TV series is concerned.
