Despite the fact that the ‘Budokai Tenkaichi’ franchise seemed to have a consistent and successful formula to keep fans of Goku, Vegeta and other fighters happy, a new installment of the saga was not released for more than 10 years.

Despite the fact that many fans requested a new edition of the game and that in the last decade a significant number of titles based on Dragon Ball Z have appeared, it seemed that a new title ‘Budokai Tenkaichi’ was a project that had not been contemplated.

However, during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2023 event, a scene where different news about the popular anime based on the work of Akira Toriyama are revealed, Bandai Namco revealed a short video where he exposed the arrival of a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi.

What was special about Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi?

The Dragon Ball saga: Budokai Tenkaichi, made up of three installments and some exclusive spin-offs for PSP, were the basis that defined what almost all Dragon Ball-based video games that were released after that franchise would be like.

One of the main attractions of the game was the possibility of holding battles in extremely large settings, as this allowed the fighters’ flight ability to be fully exploited. Added to it, the title allowed to use all the special techniques of each of the characters and these special attacks could be chained together with other moves to generate powerful combos, making for well-paced fights.

This situation often made different proposals for games based on Dragon Ball arosewhich tried to attract the attention of the players by offering other types of mechanics.
