How many Oscars does Marvel have and how many has DC won?

The 95th edition of the Oscars will announce the names of its winners during the night of Sunday, March 12. The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, in California, United States, will once again host the best of the Film Academy to celebrate last year’s cinephile harvest, which includes all kinds of superhero genre films. Marvel and DC are the two largest comic book houses in history and maintain a curious pulse in search of the statuette although it cannot be said that neither of them has been very successful.

At the 2023 Oscars, both companies will once again compete against each other for the award and will also do so in important categories. On one side will be Marvel with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (with 5 nominations: Best Supporting Actress [Angela Bassett]Best song [Rihanna por “Lift Me Up”], Best costumes, Best makeup and hairstyling and Best visual effects). Opposite we find DC with The Batman (with three nominations: Best makeup and hairstyling, Best sound and Best visual effects). We will see how the count is after the ceremony.

Although the history of Marvel heroes on the big screen is very long and has passed through a lot of hands (from Universal to Disney through Sony Pictures), the Stan Lee factory accumulates 6 Oscars awards and 18 nominations. These were the Academy Award-winning films:

  • Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse — Best animated film.

DC at the Oscars: how many statuettes have they gotten

Despite the fact that the DC Universe has been a madhouse in recent years and its films tend to be less liked than those of Marvel, the truth is that when it comes down to it, its adaptations have garnered better results. DC has 7 Oscars and 32 nominations for the 6 statuettes and 18 Marvel nominations. Most coming from his two most iconic characters (batman and superman) and directors (Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan) and actors (Michael Keaton Joaquin Phoenix) of that season. Here the winners:
