In fact, an article published in the BMJ Open Sport and Exercise Medicine explains that turmeric helps improve joint function almost to the same extent as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In other words, in the long term, turmeric could be even more effective than medications of this type, since it is a natural ingredient that would not have side effects or collateral damage to other organs.

Additionally, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant, which helps prevent diseases such as cancer. It was also shown, in a study of Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, which has an important effect in reducing the probability of suffering from diseases related to brain inflammation, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, another benefit that turmeric brings to longevity.
