It is preferably intended for home offices and small businessesalthough any consumer or professional will appreciate the advantages of this type of storage and network solutions.
He Synology DiskStation DS423+ is included in the manufacturer’s “Plus” series and offers a capacity of up to 72 Tbytes with its four bays. Like other NAS from the manufacturer, it can also be used as an edge node in distributed deployments. It supports hot swappable 3.5″ or 2.5″ SATA hard drives and features two free slots for installing M.2 2280 solid-state drives which will usually be used as a cache to speed up access to the most used data.
This model mounts a processor Intel Celeron J4125 with four 2.7 GHz cores and hardware encryption engine (AES-NI). It includes 2 Gbytes of DDR4 RAM memory expandable with an additional 4 GB module and has two 1GbE Ethernet ports and two other USB 3.2 ports to connect external storage devices.
Its high performance, with sequential data transfers in read/write up to 226/224MB/s. This level of performance can be increased by using solid-state drives in M.2 2280 slots to create volumes of SSD storage without occupying standard drive bays.
Like all Synology NAS, it includes the free DiskStationManager (DSM), one of the best operating systems for NAS on the market, designed to meet the storage, backup, data protection, file sharing and password management needs of any type of user or company.
