Also, experts from Mayo Clinic, non-profit entity dedicated to clinical practice, education and research, insist that great care must be taken with the temperature of the water when washing the face and when bathing. “Hot water and long showers or baths remove natural oils from the skin. Limit the duration of the bath or shower and use lukewarm water instead of hot water”, they recommend.

Another recommendation that experts give when showering is to avoid frequent use of exfoliants, since they can also negatively affect the health of the skin.

Mayo Clinic points out other tips to keep in mind about skin care:

  • Protecting yourself from the sun is essential to reduce the appearance of spots and wrinkles. avoid exposure out in the sun is the most important step in preventing the signs of aging and the development of skin problems. Exposure should be avoided between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., since UV rays are intensified during this time.
